Domains vs Free Blogs

Following on from my last post here Alexa Gaming, where I spoofed the holy grail of gaming your Alexa rank in order to draw advertisers to your blog, I'd like to draw attention to a post I made over at another blog as it is a poignant view on blogging.

Here is the first paragraph:

You may be thinking to yourself, hey, wait a minute, isn't he doing what he hates being done to himself in stealing content?

Nope.

As I'm the author of the article, I reserve the right to promote my own work by publishing small snippets of it on other websites and blogs that I own. That way, I not only widen the viewer base of that work, I can also legitimately give it a link to boost its own authority on the page it lives on. Better for the blog owner where its published and better for me by giving it a wider audience.

Win-win is the term, I believe...

Beware Plagiarism!

Watch out, watch out, there's a thief about!

Content thieving sites are out there stealing your content. They then use it on their own crappy sites that are full of adsense ads. But you can hit back and turn this into your advantage.

In every blog post, make sure you place a few anchor links back to your own blog, like this one to The Honest Way Blog. So that when these low-lives steal your content, they inadvertently give you a free backlink! Even if they delete your signature at the end of each blog post (where you should always include a link to your blog), by placing the links throughout your post, you stand a very good chance of getting a backlink.

And duplicate content?

The search engines accredit your blog with the original post thanks to the time and date stamp of the article, so the plagiarizing sites get hit for having the duplicate content, not you.

So it's one of those things that you can fight fire with fire and have the last laugh.

Articles and Content Are the New Kings

Over at The Honest Way I'm still posting regular updates on the blog to keep the momentum going and to try to get Google to see what a great, content packed site it is, so they'll graciously give me some PR.

After all, the word on the street is that Google are still tweaking their algorithm in favour of good quality, content packed sites that offer lots of information and entertainment for their readers.

This means that content is indeed king!

So I've got my finger crossed that all that hard work and writing tons of informational articles into the wee hours of the night will eventually pay off and The Honest Way and it's post-packed blog will get the PR they deserve!
